Surprise we didn't cancel Christmas after all

Here is your long-awaited post about our wonderful Christmas. Our Christmas vacation started off with lots of baking for our neighbors and friends. We also put together a fabulous monogrammed tote full of goodies for Rhett's teacher. Rhett loved giving it to her at his school party. On one of our days home during the break we had some of our neighbor friends over to make Christmas crafts. I saw this idea at Rachel's blog and we had such a fun time making these adorable little marshmallow snowmen.

Our Christmas travel began on December 23rd. We headed to San Antonio to have our first Christmas bash with Jason's side of the family. We opened presents, had yummy food and just had a great time together. Grandma and Moopa gave Wyatt his keepsake baby quilt. They have given each of their grandkids one and I just love how W's turned out. Moopa had fun showing us all his mad wii tennis skills and we all enjoyed listening to him read a special version of "The Night Before Christmas."

Christmas Eve morning we got back on the road and headed even further West to Aunt JoJo's house. As we were heading West a snow storm was heading East and covering our destination with snow. My parents were in the Dallas area visiting family and were supposed to be meeting us at Aunt JoJo's but ended up not being able to head West until the day after Christmas when the ice and snow had passed. So instead of seeing all of our extended family at our annual Christmas Eve party we ended up having a wonderfully relaxing Christmas Eve with our cousins. The kids played all day and then iced cookies for Santa and they even managed to talk us in to letting them open a few presents.
Here is Rhett's yearly recap video. My parents made us do these each year and it's so fun looking back at them and I hope some day R will get a kick out of looking back at all of his as well.

As you can imagine the kids all woke up so excited to see if Santa came to see them. I'm pretty sure none of them were disappointed. Rhett was so happy to see the Lego Motorized train he's been asking for as well as a super-cool robot R2D2. W was just happy to be in the middle of all the chaos that was present fest '09.
My parents, Aunt Julie, Uncle Jeff, Great Aunt Connie, Uncle Bill and Great Grandma all finally made it to Jodie's house on the 26th. We had a great Texas style BBQ Christmas dinner and enjoyed listening to some amazing concerts thanks to Rock Band.

Christmas 2009 was stuffed full of blessings. It always seems to go by way too quickly but we really did just take the time to slow down and truly enjoy W's first Christmas. We had to hustle home on the 27th and thankfully Aunt Julie came home with us to help me prepare for the reason I've been so behind in blogging. (That's a little teaser for you...I promise I'm going to catch up and show ya'll all the reasons I got so behind after Christmas. Until then Merry Belated Christmas...ha!)
