daddy and rhett

Today we just hung out around the house. It was so nice to take it easy. Rhett decided that the best seat in the house was in daddy's lap and so he sat there and they watched The Cat in the Hat together. It really was sweet to see my boys together.

Grandpa I need you

Dear Grandpa Ellis,

I just wanted to let you know that I still love my super-cool Winnie the Pooh airplane, but it is in need of some maintenance. Could you come to my house to change the batteries?? Mommy and daddy seem happy that the batteries have run out again and they try to act like it's broken, but Grandpa I know if you would just come and check it out you could fix it. Let me know when I can expect my airplane mechanic to arrive?? I love you and miss you bunches, but I sure wish my airplane would sing again.

Love, Rhett

camping in the dining room

Aunt Julie bought Rhett this tent for his birthday and since we haven't bought any formal dining room furniture yet, we just set it up in the dining room. Rhett loves being able to go camping any time that he wants. He knows how to zip himself inside the tent and he knows how to wiggle his way out of it. Thanks Julie for such a great gift. Rhett wants to know when you are taking him camping??? Love ya!! Oh and I hope Grandma and Moopa notice Rhett's shirt!!

green chilis

Every year we load up on enough green chilis to last us throughout the year. Central Market has the chilis flown in from Hatch, New Mexico and sets up a stand in front of their store to roast and sell the chilis. This year we bought a case of mild and a case of hot. We put chilis on everything. We love making our own enchilada sauce with them because it gives them such a unique flavor. Several of our friends have been treated to Jason's special stacked enchilada delight. We were so lucky this year because at the first of the Summer Jason won a golf tournament at his firm and they gave him a gift card to Central Market as his prize, so we got our precious chilis for free!! Way to go Daddy!!

sweet hubby

Look at what my sweet husband brought home from work today!!! No reason just because! He's way to good to me. Love ya!

bucket head

Rhett's goldfish came in this cool bucket, but instead of keeping the goldfish in the bucket he prefers to wear it on his head. He's so funny trying to walk all around the house with the bucket on his head. Today mommy was so lucky because she got to wear the bucket. It was really special! HAHA

like my trucker hat

Rhett loves this trucker hat almost as much as he loves climbing in and out of the laundry basket.

I'm a climber

Rhett can now climb up onto the couch. He is like a little mountain goat these days climbing up onto everything. He climbs up onto the coffee table and then wants us to clap for him. He's so proud of his newest trick.

Picking up Rhett

I just wanted to let everyone know that I just picked up our boy from his first day of Mother's Day Out and we both survived the day. YIPPEE!! Both of his teachers said he really had a great day and that he only cried once out of sympathy for another crying girl. He ate all of his lunch but he didn't take a nap, which is great for me because I brought him home and put him to bed and I'm getting a little more of a break! When I went in to pick him up he was just finishing getting his diaper changed and when he saw me he leaped off the table into my arms and threw his arms around my neck and just hugged me so tightly. It was really a sweet moment and I almost cried again but I was able to refrain. Rhett's teachers said that he was a very sweet and cuddly little boy. I was so happy to hear that he had such a great first day. I know Tuesday will be a little easier than today and I will really begin to enjoy some alone time.
Oh and the craziest thing is.......One of his teachers has a little boy named RHETT ALLEN. I guess Jason and I weren't as creative as we thought.

Getting Ready for school

Rhett had to eat a good breakfast before his first day of Mother's Day Out. I hope someone combs that crazy bed head he has. HA HA!

Don't I look Cute??

Look at our big boy getting ready to go to school. I'm afraid that this is only the start of many first day of school pictures on the stairs.

Finally at school

Rhett was such a big boy. He went in and started playing. I really don't think he even noticed that I left him with people he didn't know. The teachers had everything under control and I didn't want to be "that mom" who stays in the class crying, so I hugged him and quickly left. I think I had to leave quickly so that I didn't break down crying in front of anyone. I'm happy to say that I made it to the car before the waterworks came. Jodie, thanks for the phone call on the way home to help me through the day!! Now I don't know what to do with a quiet and very empty house...hmmmmmm I guess I'd better go get a pedicure!!! That should make it all better!

Open House

Last night we went to meet Rhett's Mothers Day Out teachers at his school's open house. There are eight kids in his class and only two of them are boys, so we know Rhett will be happy to have so many new girlfriends. We took the first picture on our way to the open house and the second picture is Rhett showing daddy his name on his cubby. Isn't he so smart to already recognize his name!!! Rhett has two teachers and they both seem very nice.

Campmeeting

We just spent the week at our annual family reunion/church camp. We had such a great time out in West Texas. It is always so nice to get away from city life and enjoy a week away from all of the stresses of life. I've posted lots of pictures from the week, and just looking at them makes me long for next year's trip. If you would like to read more about the history of Campmeeting just click on the link below or on the word Campmeeting above.

Rhett and corndog

Rhett of course wanted a corndog on the way home!

riding home

Poor baby was sooo sleepy on the way home, which made the 10 hour drive more pleasant for Jason and me.

mountain 1

There really are mountains out in West Texas. Aren't they pretty!

mountain 2

the whole gang

Every year we round up all of the family and hike up the mountain to the same rock and take all of our family pictures. This is a fun tradition and it's always such a challenge to get everyone to smile at the same time, but I think we may have gotten it this time. I thought it was so cute for Rhett to lean down and hug me right before the picture snapped.

ringing the bell

Every year the kids get to ring the church bell for one of the services. They love getting to make so much noise without getting into trouble. Last year Rhett wasn't that into it, but I think he really enjoyed it this year.
