eight is late!

Click on the top picture to see his two bottom teeth better. I don't have a picture of his top teeth yet but will work on it.

Are we moving at the speed of light or something, because that can be the only explanation for this post. I mean seriously, how does this keep happening so quickly? Eight months already and Wyatt has been super-busy growing and reaching several milestones. Here is what all he's been up to lately.

  • Eating everything he can get his hands on. The solid foods he's loving now are cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, yogurt, cheerios, puffs, grilled chicken, cheese, asparagus, broccoli, green beans and anything else we put on his tray.

  • He is wearing size three diapers and 6-12 month clothing

  • He still gets around with his modified funky crawl

  • He pulls up on EVERYTHING and is starting to let go and stand unassisted for several seconds

  • He will pull up and walk around the ottoman (holding on of course)

  • His newest trick is clapping. If you start clapping he loves to clap with you.

  • He is working on waving and saying bye bye. It sounds like he's gotten the bye bye out a few times.

  • When he sees someone he wants he gets so happy and will squish up his nose and face and hyperventilate with excitement. It is the cutest thing EVER!

  • His hair still has the crazy original pieces that stick out way over his ears.

  • When he's done with his nap he stands up in his crib and plays with his mobile.

  • He is taking two naps a day. One three hour one in the morning and one two hour one in the afternoon

  • When he wakes up from his afternoon nap Rhett is usually home from school and W just lights up when brother is finally home.

  • He is getting better and better with his sippy cup and drinks out of it throughout the day.

  • He is still nursing around five to six times a day.

  • He goes to bed between 7:00 and 7:30 and will wake up around 6:15, he is so great about just going right to sleep when I lay him down

  • He is still sucking his left thumb when he gets tired.

  • He has two teeth on top and two on bottom and boy does he have a strong bite!
Wow time is sure flying by and we are trying so hard to make sure we are absorbing every second of it. W has really just gotten more and more fun but also more and more busy! I had forgotten how "into everything" this stage really is. It seems I'm having to fish stuff out of his mouth daily that shouldn't go in there. We are still just so thankful for the miracle of Wyatt's existence and our love for him is bigger than we ever thought was possible.

t-ball is the word

Hey is that Pudge?
Things have gotten a little busy around here to say the least. Rhett started playing in a VERY competitive t-ball league. They have been practicing THREE times a week. (Now you believe me when I said competitive, right!) We were pretty nervous at first that we may have bitten off more than we can chew but we are feeling much better after surviving our first game. It turns out that we are on a super-team and we LOVE our coaches. They have invested so much one on one time with our little guy and he has improved SOOO much since the first practice. Those of you who know R know that he's not particularly known for his speed, endurance or agility so we've really been working on hitting the ball extra far. We were so proud of him because he did just that! He had two great hits that went past the third basemen allowing him to get on base. He was even able to stretch one of his hits into a double. He got to play left field, catcher and short stop. When they sent him out to catch he was just smiling the whole time thinking it was pretty cool to get to wear the special mask and chest guard. His team ended up winning 15-10 and we all just had a great time cheering on our little ball player.
Not only did we get to watch some exciting baseball but my sweet husband took me to see Grease! Let me tell you it was SOOOOO good! The cast was incredible and I managed to resist the urge to get up and dance and sing with them. I highly recommend going to see the show if it's comes to a city near you. Former American Idol winner, Taylor Hicks did a great job as "Teen Angel" and he came out at the end of the show and sang his new single. The whole show was just FABULOUS. laboring over labor day

Surprise! I'm finally going to enlighten you all about our wonderful Labor Day weekend. I know you are so excited but please try to contain yourself. The weekend was actually a BIG FAT SURPRISE for my dad. He turned 60 on 9/9/09 so we thought we had to do something extra special for him. We have actually been planning this little weekend gathering for quite sometime, we just didn't know how we were going to get Grandpa to the lake with his boat without raising his suspicion. Here is a little background info on old Gramps: We can NEVER surprise him! He ALWAYS figures everything out and he is one sneaky cat! So we all had to be even sneakier to pull this one off. I knew that the only way to make this work was to recruit help from my sneaky, little stinker Rhett. So we had Rhett ask Grandpa to meet him at the lake for the weekend to take him fishing because here's the kicker "All Rhett wanted to do all summer was to go fishing with Grandpa." Well it wasn't a total lie because R really does love to fish but we knew Grandpa would fall for it hook, line and sinker! (literally HA!)
We rented four cabins on the lake and the plan was for everyone to get there Friday night but everyone had to hide except my family because he didn't know the rest of the gang was coming. Confusing enough, well hang on it gets better. After a few almost accidental slip ups we managed to get everyone in their cabins and ready to surprise Grandpa first thing in the morning. As I was trying to get everyone up to go and reveal the surprise Grandpa beat me to it. He came into our cabin and saw my younger sister, Julie, standing there. He kept saying, "Julie, what are you doing here?" So then I had him go and knock on the rest of the cabins to see who was behind door number three and four. He was VERY surprised and VERY happy to have all of us there together.
For lunch Saturday we threw him a 60th party complete with all the gifts a 60 year old might need like Geritol, Metamucil, Depends, Ensure, giant coloring books and we even had a wheel chair for him to sit in. He was an amazing sport through the whole thing and happily sat in his wheel chair enjoying all the gifts especially his specially formulated prescriptions for Viagra GO and Viagra STOP! HA!

I know that Grandpa had a good time at his party but I'm sure he will tell you that nothing made him happier than getting into a school of bass with all his grand kids. They were pulling fish in one right after another.
Julie made a video full of pictures of dad and our family through the years that put lumps in all of our throats. It was perfect! Jodie, aka cake maker extraordinaire made a fish on a plaque cake that looked real enough to actually hang on the wall. Of course it never got a chance to hang on the wall but I think part of it is actually still hanging onto my behind. HA!
We all worked together and pulled off a surprise we didn't think was possible. In the process we made memories that we will all cherish forever! Thanks again for all the fun and I really hope we can do it again!

gone fishing

One of W's new favorite things to do is crawl over to the aquarium and watch Nemo swim around. He especially loves it when we hold him up to the glass for closer inspection. Good thing he likes to look at fish so much because that's what we will be doing this holiday weekend. We are going to meet my parents for a fun fishing weekend getaway. R has been asking everyday this week if this is the day he gets to go fishing with grandpa. Well today the answer is YES! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend as well! I'll meet you all back here in bloggy land Tuesday.

Jesus Take the Meal

Okay all you blogging mommas, I need HELP! The hours from 5-7 in the evening are out of control at my house. It seems that everyone is melting down, the phone is ringing, the neighbor kids are knocking, my head is throbbing, the TV is blaring, the Webkinz are starving, and W is screaming his head off all while I'm trying to cook dinner.
A few years ago I was very convicted by the For Women Only Bible Study to not just cook dinner but to create a relaxing environment for my hunk a hunk of burning love to come home to. My goal is to have the house picked up, dinner on the table, happy little children waiting and a little make-up on before his arrival. The reality is I'm struggling to get it all done. The main struggle right now is that W wants to be held the whole time I'm cooking. I put him in his high chair with cheerios, biter biscuits and whatever else he can feed himself but he pretty much just SCREAMS between bites. I've tried feeding him early and putting him down for a third nap but he still seems to wake up screaming during my cooking time. R isn't as needy as W but he still wants my attention during my dinner preparations. I usually put him on the computer to play Webkinz but he wants me to come and look at EVERY SINGLE THING that happens. Most of the time I can't hear him over W screaming or the voices in my head trying to convince me to just run away. I have to figure out how to make this time run more smoothly for us all or the voices in my head will finally have their way and I may run myself to the nearest crazy house and check in. The only thing holding me back now is that I'm not sure if they will let you blog from there..LOL!
Seriously ladies I need suggestions, tips or ideas of what you do to make your evenings run smoothly. I'm already praying the whole time I'm cooking and I even turn the TV to The Message on the Sirius channel to help get my mind right.
I want a little more of this

and a little less of this
So hurry up and send me your ideas before you have to read my new blog entitled "Mommy's Going Insane" or "Mommy Needs Meds". That is of course if they'll let me blog from the crazy house.

first day of school haircut, a week late

I know you are totally surprised to know that I just now got R's back to school haircut crossed off the to do BEFORE school starts list. Of course I've still got a few other things to mark off that dreaded list like getting him new tennis shoes. That task will have to come when I'm not so busy trying to juggle both boys at the shoe store all while trying to not go absolutely insane in the process. So I'm thinking maybe by the time he's 18 I'll finally have it a little more together and can make it to the store to get his new Kindergarten shoes. For now let's focus on the one thing I did get checked off...a new haircut! R used to always wear his hair spikey or "up" as he calls it but the last few times he wanted a "down" haircut. I was happy to hear him tell the lady yesterday that he wanted "up" hair again because I think he looks so cute with it like this. Don't you agree?!
No he doesn't need to shave already, the white stuff on the side of his face is just baby powder to minimize the itching of the haircut.Looking at these pictures just makes me smile thinking about what a little stinker this boy is. Of course I think he's the cutest, sweetest little stinker around. So far he's pretty happy with Kindergarten and in true boy fashion he's not giving me as many details as I'd like. You know I wish he'd come home and divulge every occurrence of his day right down to what his teacher was wearing, hey I like details people! (I know those details will only come if, Lord-willing, I ever have a daughter.) He may not give me all the details I need but he sure made up for it this morning when I dropped him off at school. (they don't allow us to walk the kids in we have to drop them off out of the car at the sidewalk and they walk in on their own) He got out of the car and started walking in like such a big brave boy then he turned around blew me a kiss and did the "I Love You" sign with his hand. My heart totally melted right there in car line for my sweet little stinker!
