Today was just an amazing family day. Jason took the morning off work so we could take Rhett to the circus. We started the morning off right with a big IHOP breakfast and then headed to the big show early so we could see all of the animals and meet the entertainers before the circus started. Rhett really enjoyed the show and he especially liked the motorcycle souvenir he convinced us he needed.

kolsen turns one
We headed out West for my nephew, Kolsen's, first birthday. We had a fun weekend and Rhett always enjoys getting to run around in the country. He got to swim in Kenzie's horse trough and he even bonded with Tawney dog. (yes he is kissing her in the picture) Kolsen loved his cake but I think Rhett and Kenzie enjoyed playing with his birthday presents more than he did. It was great seeing everyone and I still can't believe that Kolsen is one.

wedding day
Today was the big day for "uncle" Jason. We are so happy for the two of them and we wish them a lifetime of happiness! Our Jason was a groomsmen and it really confused everyone all weekend because they didn't know if we were talking about groomsman Jason or the groom Jason. We just really had a fantastic time and we are so thankful that we got to be a part of such a wonderful event.

wedding weekend
These are just some of the shots from the weekend wedding. We flew in Friday and stayed out at the Bed and Breakfast where the wedding was held until Sunday. It was so nice to get to go to such a relaxing place for the weekend and Rhett had a ball running all over the place. He got to hang out with lots of pretty girls and even had a cheeto date with a cute little blonde.

photo shoot

Today I took Rhett to do another photo shoot for the Team Baby company that makes baby videos. The company is now going to release videos for MLB, NBA and Nascar, and Rhett was one of only 12 children chosen to possibly be on the covers of the upcoming videos.
I thought that it would be no big deal, we would show up, Rhett would do his thing and it would be completely painless...but boy was I wrong. You see last night Rhett discovered that he can climb out of his crib and make his way all through our dark house and down the stairs into mommy and daddy's room. So before we even showed up to the photo shoot, Rhett and I had already missed a complete nights sleep. He did sleep in his crib from about midnight until 4:00 am when he made it back down to our bedroom and declared that he was ready to be awake for the day.
Rhett is still wide awake when we arrive at the studio at 8:45 for his 9:00 appointment. I get him dressed in the Miami Heat jersey that they have for him to wear and everything still seems like we are going to be able to get this tired toddler to cooperate and then we find out that the photographer is stuck in traffic and is going to be an hour late. So Rhett had plenty of time to realize just how tired and cranky he should be after sacrificing a full nights rest.
To make a long story somewhat shorter, by the time they were set up and ready to go Rhett was crashing quickly and didn't want to have anything to do with having his picture taken. (those of you who know him know that's not like him at all) We did manage to get pictures of him in the Miami Heat jersey and a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform. I'm not sure if they actually got any pictures that they can use but I guess we will see.
I'll let you know if he ends up being one of the cover babies or not. I posted this picture because I thought you could see just how tired his eyes are and I thought it was pretty funny that he had on a basketball jersey with a baseball helmet and bat.
crib tent
After the night Rhett and I had last night, Jason and I decided that we had to do something. We know that we have to get him a big boy bed but at the moment our budget is still recuperating from Disney World and plane tickets to the Panhandle so we had to come up with something temporary. One of our neighbors let us borrow this nifty crib tent. At first Rhett was very excited that he was going to get to sleep in a tent but when it was actually time to go to bed and he realized that he was going to be trapped in he wasn't as happy about it. But he did end up sleeping fine in it and we were all able to get a full night of sleep. YIPPEE!!

Rhett and I had these pictures done back in April but I'm just now getting around to scanning them in and posting them.

happy fourth of july

We had a wonderful all-American family Fourth of July! We took Rhett to the movies for the first time to see Cars. I think he liked it and of course he went crazy over the tractors and all of the cars in the movie. He would squeal out with joy and announce to the entire theater that there were "tractors right there". It was too cute! He almost made it through the whole movie but with about 10 minutes left to go he was done with sitting still so we decided to leave and let the rest of the movie-goers enjoy the show.
Since we just got back from Disney World and Rhett was used to seeing fireworks every night we decided to stay home and watch all of the fireworks on tv. Rhett was very excited about them and he would get right up to the tv and show us the "bireworks right there". He would even move our heads in the direction of them just to make sure we were seeing what all he was seeing. He even thought the Empire State Building was Cinderella's Castle from the Magic Kingdom. We thought it was sweet for him to make that connection and relate it to our recent vacation!

bike parade
Lining up for the parade
Playing with friends
Today we had a neighborhood block party and bike parade. We had a great time visiting with our friends and celebrating July 4th. Rhett rode his tractor in the parade and he was so nice to let all of the other boys ride it as well. He finished the night off with a yummy brownie.
