Well Hello Again

Test, 1.2.3. Test 1.2.3. Is anyone out there? Not sure if anyone will actually see this after my THREE-Year hiatus but here we go anyway. I'm going to try to sum up our last three years in bullets.

  • Rhett is 11
  • Wyatt is 6
  • Landon is 4
  • Jason and I haven't aged a bit
  • We built a new house and moved November 2013 and love it

  • We All went to Hawaii and renewed our vows for my in-laws 50th Anniversary, Our 15th and Sister-in-laws 20th. What an amazing trip. June 2014

  • Rhett got glasses and braces

  • Wyatt started Kindergarten and lost his first tooth

  • Landon climbed on the grill in the outdoor kitchen and injured his paws right before Pre-K3 so he missed the first couple of weeks of school. He healed remarkably thanks to Shriners Pediatric burn unit and has learned a valuable lesson about hot grills.

  • I got to meet Miranda at the rodeo this year...Pure Awesomeness!!

  • We surprised the boys with a dog from California for Christmas 2012. Her name is Gracie Belle Newman.

  • Wyatt was Joseph for our Church's Christmas Eve Service 2013

  • We took the whole family on our first snow skiing trip Spring break 2013
  • The boys rode lots of fun rides at Kemah and Galveston's Pleasure Pier but DIDN'T LOVE them all...lol

  • Jason and I now have FOUR half marathons under our belts. (Shocking huh)

  • We've taken Rhett and met our Cousins at an Aggie game each season since 2013. Brainwashing begins early

  • Jason made partner at his law firm and Aunt JoJo got a monkey.

Well there you have it, the last three riveting years of Newman News. I hope you can contain the excitement of hearing an update from me...haha! I'm making no promises but I will try to get back to blogging. I just miss it so much and most of all I miss having the family journal to reference back to. I've missed you all as well and hope we can be blogging BFF's again soon!

April Part One: Happy Easter!

We were lucky enough to be able to steal a weekend out West with Grandma and Moopa for Easter. We always have such a great time staying out at deer camp letting the boys be boys. We fished, hunted and dyed Easter eggs and were happy to see the Easter bunny found the boys out in the country.

March Part Three: Strawberries and Baseball

Fresh picked strawberries and baseball are two of our favorite things about spring. We made our yearly trip to our local Farmer's Market March 18. No matter how many times we tell Wyatt not to eat the strawberries he just can't resist their juicy goodness.

The day Wyatt's been waiting for all his life arrived when he was finally old enough to play baseball just like Rhett. Three year old t-ball has to be one of the cutest activities on the planet. W was on the YMCA Red Sox and he loved his Coach Kenny.March1

Koolookamba Hunting, Recipes and a Concert

We ended January with a trip to the zoo. We love going when the weather is cooler because the animals are so active. If you haven't been to the Houston Zoo in a while you should check it out. The boys love the new African Forrest exhibit and trying to find all the hidden Koolookambas.

We also tried out some pretty yummy recipes in January. I'm pretty sure I found most of them on Pinterest. I wanted to make the bell peppers and eggs but knew I'd have to adapt it for the boys so Yoda came to the rescue. The boys thought it was pretty cool.

In a boy house cooking is a full contact sport so helmets are a must! Actually you can find any of my boys wearing some kind of crazy head gear at any given time. I love to get the boys involved in the cooking process because it makes it easier to get them to eat their own healthy creations. Everyone enjoyed assembling and baking their own foil packed chicken and it was super yummy!

I'm pretty sure the best cooking trick I've ever learned is that you can cook a whole pan of bacon in the oven. We put bacon on everything so this trick has come in so handy. Just line your baking sheet with foil and load it up with bacon. Cook at 350 for about 15 minutes. I just watch it and adjust the cook time based on our desired crispiness. The best thing about it all is that I can cook up to 12 pieces at a time without stinking up my kitchen.

Jason and I bid farewell to January with a fun date night out. We attended the second concert from the series of tickets I got him for our anniversary. Mason Jennings put on an amazing acoustic show and we will definitely be seeing him again next time he comes around.

That's it for January folks!
