So I think I'm back in the running for mom of the year. Today I loaded up my newborn and drove all the way to Rhett's school with one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding Mister Turtle in a bowl without spilling a drop of the water. Then I managed to carry the car seat, diaper bag and turtle bowl all the way into Rhett's school and made it in time for pet show and tell. (that has to qualify me for some kind of super-mom award don't you think?) Oh and did I mention that I had to nurse baby boy during all of the process. Then to make sure that I have the mom of the year award in the bag, I then took my newborn to the loud, germ-filled lunchroom and we had lunch with big brother. See I told you I deserve some kind of reward for my heroic acts today, but I guess I totally got rewarded with the happiness it gave Rhett for us to be there eating lunch with him. He even said, "mom do you know what I do to you...LOVE YOU!" Yep he said the LOVE word to his momma right in front of all his little friends. It totally melted my heart and made my trip home carrying the car seat, diaper bag and turtle all worth it! 1.28.2009

wyatt's warriors
Oh I just LOVE these gals!! Wyatt and I went to Bible study today so that he could meet all of the special women in my small group. Little Wyatt may not know that all the ladies he's surrounded by prayed daily for him. I really feel like he wouldn't be here today if it weren't for these girls praying us through our journey. These wonderful ladies have already begun to pray for Wyatt's little heart and we just feel so covered in prayer and know that God is going to work everything out for the good! Thanks to each and everyone of you, I will always treasure you and your friendship!

car show

Jason and Rhett went to the car show today and had a blast. Rhett climbed in every car and even put on his seat belt for safety each time. Rhett got to play in the kids zone and jumped in every bounce house and slid down every slide. I think Rhett really needed a day for just he and daddy with no baby around. I'm so happy that they are such great buddies!1.23.2009
two week check up

Heat pack to ready his little foot for the blood draw
Today at Wyatt's two week check-up the doctor discovered that he has a Ventricular Septal Defect also known as a heart murmur. The doctor said that 1% of babies are born with these and that 80-90% of them will go away. We have really good odds that the murmur will correct itself and I am completely faithful that God will heal his little heart. If the murmur is still there at nine months then we will have to take Wyatt to see a cardiologist to run some more tests. We will keep you posted but would appreciate it if you said a little prayer for our little guy's ticker. Everything else at the check up looked great. He has gained up to 7lbs 1oz and was 20 inches long. This puts him in the 50th percentile for height and 10th percentile for weight. He just seems so tiny. We are just enjoying holding and snuggling our little guy so much. 1.22.2009

wyatt's first photo session
We did a newborn photo session when Wyatt was just six days old. You can see some of the great shots the photographer got on her blog. She did such an amazing job and I was just in awe of her patience with a newborn. We are just so thrilled with all of the shots she got. Thanks again Tasha for everything! If the link above doesn't work here is her website http://homeshade.com/

chuy's
When Rhett was just nine days old we took him to Chuy's for the first time so we decided that Wyatt's first meal out should be the same. Wyatt was eight days old for his first Chuy's experience and he slept in Aunt Julie's arms the whole time. We are determined to make our boys love Chuy's and Mexican food as much as we do.

one week old
We have reached the one week mark and things are still going great. Wyatt is doing so great at night. He's consistently been getting up to eat in the night at 7:30, 10:30, 1:30 and then making it to 5:30. Feeding and changing time has gotten so much faster that I'm usually back to sleep within 45 minutes of his first little squeak letting me know it's time to eat. I always thought Rhett was such an easy baby but so far we have been so blessed with a super-easy one. I'm just praying for it to continue! I'm not sure if I've told y'all lately just how much I love all of my boys and this little guy has opened my heart bigger than I thought possible.

adjusting at home
Snoozing Last night
Meeting big Brother
Going Home

Welcome Home!
Bonding with big brother
Things are going great here at the house. I was a little nervous about how Rhett would do once he realized that Wyatt was here to stay, but things have been great. Rhett is starting to interact with his new little brother more and more. He likes to hold him and he likes how soft he is. The first time he was holding Wyatt and Wyatt started crying it kinda freaked Rhett out a little. Rhett immediately asked, "What happened?" I think he thought that he broke him or something.
Our delivery was wonderful. My doctor started my pitocin at 5:30am Friday morning and I immediately starting having contractions 3 minutes apart and was 4cm very quickly. My doctor soon realized that she wouldn't make it to the hospital in time to deliver so they turned my pitocin off around 8:00ish. My pictocin was turned back on around 10:00 and this time it took about an hour for me to start contracting and dilating again. Just as I was getting discouraged that I wasn't progressing as fast as I liked it started happening. My nurses went to lunch and before they could return it was time to deliver. My doctor came back in at 1:00 and all the action began. As my contractions were getting more and more intense Jason said, this baby is going to be here by 3:00 and my mom called it and said he's going to be here by 1:30 and sure enough he came at 1:29. He is just absolutely perfect and has just been the best baby. I was nervous about his ability to nurse since he was a 37 weeker but he has had no troubles and just latches on beautifully at each feeding. He really just seems so small to me compared to my newborn Rhett. We all think Wyatt looks more like his daddy than me. I'm just so in love with this little guy already and can't wait to spend more and more time with him. Thanks again to all of you who prayed for our delivery and transition home.

wyatt watch '09
I just got back from the doctor and my induction date has been moved to this Friday, January 9. He has dropped and I'm already 3cm. Our doctor is worried that with my history of short labor that if he comes on his own it could happen too quickly and we don't want to have him in rush hour traffic. I'm just feeling so many emotions right now. It blows my mind that last January we had already been through three IUI's and were coming to the end of our first failed attempt at IVF. I was starting to believe that my dreams of having another baby were never going to become a reality and now I'm just three days away from holding my dream. I absolutely cannot wait to meet our precious Wyatt. I can't wait for Rhett to get to experience the wonderful world of siblings. I pray that they will be best buddies and I pray that they will always have each other to count on in this crazy world. I can't wait to see Wyatt's personality develop. He has been such an active baby in my tummy and I wonder if that's foreshadowing his personality or if he will be a laid back baby like his big brother was. I know that once we are holding Wyatt, all of the years we waited and prayed for God to perfectly design him for us will seem like they never happened. Please continue to pray for our family as we make the adjustment from three to four and I also ask that you please pray for a safe delivery of our little miracle.

insert baby here
The nursery is all ready to go except for his name which is being custom painted as we speak and should be here very soon. Once it arrives, it will go above the crib and I'm sure I'll post a picture for all of you just dying to see it...haha! So I would say that we are basically done with all of our checklist and we are just waiting on Wyatt.

more rhett funnies
I totally forgot to blog about Rhett's newest "funnies" for 2009. I'm not real sure how to set the scene for the first funny without grossing you out too much but here is my best attempt. Jason, Julie, Rhett and I were all sitting down to our first breakfast of 2009 when Rhett decided it would be a good idea to put his bacon between his toes and eat it from there. (You know you're just sad you didn't think of it first...haha) After we got onto him about his table manners and how full of germs toes are he replied..."Oh come on man, It's the holidays!"
Then later that afternoon as Aunt Julie was getting ready to leave she asked him to come and give her some love before she headed back home and he quickly informed her that "I'm not really known for that." So now that we know he's not known for giving love we are trying to figure out what he is known for at the young age of four.
We look forward to a new year full of more great one liners from our funny little boy.

happy new year
Aunt Julie came to stay with us the day after Christmas and bring in the new year with us. Unfortunately, nobody stayed awake to actually bring in the new year and we blew up all of our fireworks by 8:00 pm. We thought Wyatt might be making an appearance new year's eve but he was just giving mommy lots of practice contractions. I guess he's just going to hang out and see what 2009 is all about before he greets us with his presence.
