After school ended Friday we decided to celebrate a successful first week with snow cones. We grabbed R’s buddy on the way out and indulged in a much-deserved treat. One week down, just a few more to go until next summer!

Happy Green Chili Fest America!
It’s hard to believe that it’s already that time of year again. Time to refill our freezer with our beloved Hatch green chilies. We started our yearly green chili day tradition Saturday with lunch at Chuy’s. They seem to be one of the only restaurants around who truly appreciates the gloriousness that is the Hatch green chili. After filling our tummy’s with green chili goodness we headed over to the Central Market to load up on cases of fresh roasted chilies. Chuy’s had the perfect Super Chili shirts that we had to have.
The boys even got in on the chili action with super chili capes.
Until next time this family of Supers will be coming up with a million and one ways to cook our chilies. Happy Green Chili Day to you and yours!

Last Summer Weekend Warriors
Once again we found ourselves trying to pack in all the fun things we’d planned to do ALL Summer the weekend before school started. I can proudly report that we checked everything off our fun Summer to do list. Which was finally complete with bowling and baking. We met one of R’s best little buddies at the bowling alley for greasy bowling alley food and fun on the lanes. These boys have so much fun together, they crack me up!
We bought the coolest cookie dough from Rhett’s school fundraiser LAST YEAR. I’d been promising R all Summer that we were going to make it before school started. So what better time to pull it out than the day before the first day of school. (Ya’ll know I’m the queen of procrastination right?!) The boys were just a little excited that I finally fulfilled my promise!
Some of our creations. (Please don’t judge me for my pitiful cookie sheet, it’s definitely seen better days!)
The best part about waiting sooooo long to make our cookies was the milk and cookie date I had with an extra special second grader after his first day of school. We dunked our cookies in milk and solved pretty much all of the worlds problems. Stealing that little moment in time with my boy was worth all the calories in the world!

First Day of Second Grade on Time!
Ms. V seems like she’s going to be a lot of fun. She was joking around with the kids as they walked in and we all know jokes are Rhett’s love language.
Dear Second Grade Rhett, May your pencils stay sharp, your crayons never dull, your heart be full of happiness, your friends be abundant and your love of learning be limitless. Your mommy and daddy love you and are so proud of the bright-eyed, funny, handsome, smart little dude you’re becoming. We pray for you daily and can’t wait to see what all the Good Lord has planned for you. I take that back we can wait a little longer if you want to slow down the crazy speed at which you’re growing. We love you to the moon and back and then some!
