pi-rhett

The nurse at Rhett's school called me this morning to come and pick Rhett up because another little boy on the playground threw mulch in Rhett's eye. I had to take him to the doctor to see if his eye had been scratched or if there was still something in it. They put some neon drops in his eye and then looked at it under a black light and you could see something right on top of the blue part of his eye so the doctor put him on some antibiotic eyedrops and he gets to wear a "cool" patch. Rhett thinks he's a pirate and as soon as we got home he added his pirate hat to complete the look.

i've been working on the railroad...

This is how the train looks now, I told you Jason got a little train-happy. It takes up almost all of the living room floor. So now my days are filled putting the tracks back together and getting trains back on the tracks....It is sooooo much fun! haha

drivers, start your engines!

Today Rhett had another photo shoot with Team Baby Entertainment. They were shooting for their upcoming NASCAR video and so we got to go out to the Houston Motorsports Park and "drive" some cars. I actually got to drive my own car around the race track and park it down on pit row. (Don't I sound so race car savvy? This was actually the first time I've ever experienced the world of racing.) Rhett got to sit in some of the cars and wear the Home Depot sponsored uniform which is what Rhett likes to call the "Man Store". The thing we were not prepared for was how extremely LOUD the cars really are. They were driving them around the tracks during the photo shoot and I managed to talk someone into giving Rhett their earplugs....I didn't care if they were used, I just wanted him to have some hearing left after the day was over. Aside from the deafening noise and the brutal heat we managed to have a great day and I think they may have gotten some really cute shots of Rhett. He has not stopped talking about the race cars since we left the tracks yesterday. He says "race car vroom vroom" and turns in circles showing us how they sped around the track.

So today I bought Rhett a train with a few tracks to play with, but little did I know that daddy was going to become totally excited about trains and spend all weekend buying more and more trains and tracks for he and Rhett to play with. They really are too cute playing trains together. (I'm learning that boys never grow out of their love of trains because some of our adult-male neighbors who have daughters have already come over to play trains with Jason and Rhett. I think they were all just counting down the days until Rhett was old enough to get his first train set...haha) I'll try to include some pics of how the train looks now after daddy got ahold of it.

go stros

Uncle Sam and Aunt Monica gave us their Astros tickets tonight and we had a wonderful time at the game. It was 80's night at the ballpark and so when the players went up to bat they had their faces on some 80's movie and these were just a few of my favorites. Jason and I were cracking up at Will E.T. all night. On Friday nights they have a huge fireworks show after the game and you know Rhett loved that. I think this kid has seen more fireworks in two years than most people see in a lifetime. Thanks again Sam and Moni for giving us a wonderful family night!

new nap mat

Rhett got his new John Deere nap mat today. He was so excited when he saw it had tractors all over it. I just hope this will encourage him to actually nap on it at school.

beach time

We had a very busy weekend when we got back from Campmeeting. My little brother and his girlfriend came to visit us for the weekend, so we took them to the beach Saturday morning. Rhett loved running around the sand and trying to jump over the big waves.

We hope that Jeff and Sandy had as much fun as we did. Thanks so much for babysitting Rhett for us Saturday night and we hope you had a great birthday Sandy!

robert earl keen

Jason's firm hosted "An Evening with Robert Earl Keen". We had such a great time dancing and singing all of our favorite Robert Earl songs. This was by far our favorite of all of the events hosted by the firm. It was so nice to be able to just wear boots and jeans for a change.

campmeeting

These are pics from our annual trip out to West Texas for Bloys Campmeeting. We had a great week and Rhett loved getting to play with all of his cousins and friends. He enjoyed mountain climbing, getting breakfast in bed, getting to play in the rain but most of all he LOVED getting to be outside for a whole week! We had a wonderful trip and are already looking forward to next year!
