astros b-day

Today is Rhett's actual birthday so we spent it at what Jason and I like to call our "happy place"...the Astros game. Rhett is at the perfect age where he is starting to get it and he loves Lance Berkman, who he calls LB. We specifically bought seats where we knew we would have the best chance to catch a homerun ball and we almost had a Craig Biggio ball, but it bounced out of my hands and into the ladies hands behind us. We were pretty bummed so some ladies in our section went and told the park patrol that is was Rhett's birthday so they came and sang to him and gave him his own ball. He really loved the balloons they gave him the best. He was too cute every time LB would go up to bat Rhett would stand up with his glove on and yell, "hit it to me LB". Someday I'm sure Rhett will get a ball from LB, but today wasn't that day.

party time

We had Rhett's party at the zoo today. It was a lot of fun and the kids loved getting to ride the carousel, pet the animals, play in the splash park and especially eat cake.

busy day

In our neighborhood all of the kids just stop in and play at any time. So this morning while I was at the grocery store Grandma had two more kids over to keep up with. Then in the afternoon Aunt LaLa and the girls arrived at our house for the big birthday party weekend. Jason is on the board of an organization of lawyers for the arts so we went to meet him at the booth he was working at the arts festival in town. We had fun seeing all of the art and the kids all liked making some art of their own.

merry christmas grandma!

Grandma finally got to redeem her Christmas present from us. She and Jason were getting to see Josh Grobin. They went out to a really nice seafood dinner and then got to have a wonderful night together at the concert. We are very happy that she loved her gift and that she and Jason got to make such a wonderful memory together!

We were all outside playing with the neighbor kids when we noticed that Rhett and Brooke were no longer outside. I thought they were probably just on the front porch, but no, they actually had let themselves into the house and started munching down on skittles. This is what Grandma and I found when we walked back into the house.

grandma and the rodeo

Grandma came to stay with us before Rhett's birthday party and we all enjoyed a day at the Rodeo. Rhett loved all of the rides and even went up this huge maze all by himself. We had to drag him off of it once he slid all the way back down. Jason and I were also happy to eat as many things as we could find that came on a stick.

uncle sam

Uncle Sam brought over a really cool tool set for Rhett's birthday. Thanks Aunt Moni for picking out such a fun toy for Rhett to play with. He loves working around the house with daddy.

aunt julie

Aunt Julie came to visit us for spring break and we had a great time going to the stock show, shopping and playing. We look forward to her visit every year!

zoo invite

This is the invitation I did for Rhett's birthday party. I omitted the specifics so please don't email me and tell me that I left off the date and the location of the party...haha!

fire b-day party

This morning we went to a birthday party for a little boy in Rhett's class and the fire trucks came and surprised the children. They were so excited to get to see the fire trucks so close. Rhett sat down on the front row and even answered some of the firefighters questions...well actually he kept telling her that you need to climb out the window if there is a fire. I was quite impressed that he had some sort of plan in place for a fire.

gala

So after spending the afternoon at the firefighter birthday party, we had to get all dressed up and go to a Gala raising money for a theater in town. We were very tired because we spent the night before out late at the Eric Clapton concert (which was incredible by the way). We managed to make it to the event which turned out to be quite a nice evening out for just the two of us. Oh and the surprise of the night was that I found my dress on a clearance rack for $9.97. I know I had the cheapest dress in the whole place, I just really hope no one knew my little secret!
